On the First Day of the IV International Agricultural Dairy Forum, There were Discussed Modern Challenges and Development Pathways of the Dairy Industry
The forum is being held on November 8–9, at the House of the Government of the Moscow Region.
In the Moscow Region, the IV International Agricultural Dairy Forum was opened. The highlight of the first day of the Forum was the plenary session “Dairy Industry: Modern Challenges and Development Pathways.” The meeting was opened by the Governor of the Moscow Region Andrey Vorobyov, who stressed that the event promotes determining of the further development of the dairy industry.
“Our goal is to answer the questions and the problems existing in the industry. We hope that such work and cooperation will provide the additional efficiency to this business. After such meetings we sign agreements and observe real investments in our region,” Andrei Vorobyov pointed out.
Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation Alexander Tkachyov noted that at present the dairy business is a strategically profitable direction. According to him, state support for the industry makes it possible to shorten the payback period of a dairy farm to 6–8 years, which makes this direction interesting for the investors.
“In the Soviet period, the Great Moscow was the leader of the dairy industry. There were produced two million tons of milk, but now these totals are less. At present, the Moscow Region is number one in subsidies allocation in the dairy sector,” Alexander Tkachyov declared.
Deputy Prime Minister of the Moscow Region, Minister of Investments and Innovations of the Moscow Region Denis Butsayev told about the regulation of the relationship between dairy producers and chain stores, stressing that it is marketing that determines the economy of the enterprises.
“We offer to prepare the long-term contracts at a formula-based price. Such a system of calculation allows the producers to have a profitable business, and the stores to have high-quality products at good prices in sufficient quantities,” Denis Butsayev noted.
According to the General Director of the Trade Network “Perekrestok” Vladimir Sorokin, the assortment of dairy products on the shelves is adapted for each specific region. At the same time, today Russian buyers make a choice in favor of basic dairy products.
Deputy Head of the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance Konstantin Savenkov dwelled on the quality of the dairy products getting into the market from abroad.
“The sales geography has changed significantly over the past three years. The consumer can find the dairy products in the stores not only from Belarus but also from such countries as Paraguay and Costa Rica. All products undergo laboratory tests and meet regulatory requirements,” Konstantin Savenkov said.
The President of EkoNiva Group Stefan Dürr noted the support that the state provides to the dairy industry in Russia and declared that he is ready to discuss the creation of dairy complexes in the Moscow Region.
“Now is a really good time for the development of the dairy business,” Stefan Dürr said.
International Trade Director at the Ministry of Agriculture of Israel Gilad Eliraz shared the experience of state support of the dairy industry existing in Israel.
“State support, investors attraction, personnel training, high technology — this ecosystem allows us to produce high-quality milk,” Gilad Eliraz said.
Issues of increasing the productivity and quality control of milk were touched upon in the speech of the Managing Director of Israeli Dairy School Ofier Langer.
Director for International Cooperation of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Regional Chamber of Agriculture (France) Emmanuel Mingasson told about the conditions that are necessary for the high-quality cheese production in Russia.
In addition, at the Forum there was discussed the creation of a cheese cluster in the Moscow region. At the end of 2018 in the Dmitrovsky District within the territory of 17 hectares, it is expected to start 7–9 cheese-producing units.
On the first day of the Forum, there was held a roundtable devoted to the role of small businesses in the structure of the dairy industry, as well as the debates “What we drink and whether it can be exported.” Within the special session “Banking Hour” the representatives of the banking community told about the most profitable opportunities for obtaining the financing, and also answered the questions of the entrepreneurs.
At the Forum, the Moscow Region signed 12 investment agreements at a cost of more than 14 billion rubles in such areas as livestock farming, milk production, and processing, construction, and reconstruction of farms and factories, cheese making, information cooperation and others.
Within the Forum there is also an exhibition of domestic and foreign dairy companies, presenting dairy products, equipment for the dairy industry and the results of the investment projects of the Moscow Region in the dairy industry.
To participate in the event, more than 3,200 participants from about 40 countries and more than 40 regions of Russia have registered.
On the second day of the Forum, there will be roundtables devoted to the effectiveness of the state subsidies, the best technologies for keeping, feeding and milking in the modern farms, as well as the creation of a cheese cluster.
